CRITERION

Binder+Co

Multi-stream plastics sorting with infra-red detection.

Mixed plastic is low value because reprocessors need clean, single-polymer feedstock. The challenge is telling one polymer from another at speed, on a moving belt.

CRITERION uses near-infra-red (NIR) sensors to read the material signature of each item and air jets to sort it into the right stream. Because it works in multiple streams, it can separate several polymer types in one pass rather than one at a time.

Standard widths of around 800 and 1000mm can be expanded to 1600 and 2000mm, so the system scales with throughput. The output is clean polymer fractions, which is what gives recovered plastic a market.

Typically used for

  • Mixed plastics
  • Polymer separation
  • Packaging waste
